TANAUAN,Leyte, March 10 (PNA) –-Tanauan Mayor Pelagio Tecson is setting his eyes on whatever opportunities that could improve the lives of his constituents amid the massive devastation caused by typhoon Yolanda last year.
“This exactly what I’m trying to do, to turn these adversaries into positive results,” said Tecson.
He acknowledged that what he wanted is not easy but they could start by having a clear roadmap.
“I am sure that if a local government unit (LGU) has a clear plan for the development of his place, the national government as well as other government institutions will have the greater chances of helping them,” he said.
Tanuan is still awaiting for more help to fully realize its priorities.
These include the construction of permanent shelters in Pago village where 1, 200 houses will be built for displaced families who used to live in no build zone areas; livelihood program and infrastructure.
The LGU eyes a new hospital, a new plaza and the modernization of their slaughterhouse to be funded with the help of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is helping Tanauan in the rehabilitation of its market as well as the reconstruction of a new building near the municipal hall to co-locate all government services in one site to facilitate a one stop shop service.
Schools, day care centers and barangay halls are also included in the list of infrastructures.
All design of these, said Tecson, is intended to build back better the municipality.
His vision is not just to build Tanauan to what it was before Yolanda but should be a better Tanuaun- a new Tanuaun, said Tecson. (PNA)
