KIDAPAWAN CITY, Mar 9 (PNA) –The entry of organic food from North Cotabato into the international market was an indication Mindanao is rich and can be globally competitive, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) today said.
In a statement, MinDA chair Luwalhati Antonino said this simply means that the viability of Mindanao’s high value agricultural products are now penetrating the world market.
“A very good development, a very good news from Mindanao,” she said.
North Cotabato joined the Biofact Organic Trade Fair in Germany with the province showcasing organic black rice and coco sugar.
North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza said the products earned the admiration and attention from countries like The Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy.
“MinDA is supporting all efforts in improving investment promotions to bring our products in the international market,” Antonino said.
“Very promising and it encourages us to do more,” Mendoza said of the outcome of the trade fair.
She said the provincial government is now processing orders from Europe that will help our farmers.
Mlang, also in North Cotabato, had been exporting black and brown rice to Hong Kong and in the Middle East.
“We also have orders from USA, South Africa, Asia and Singapore,” Mendoza said. (PNA)
