COTABATO CITY, Feb. 27 (PNA) – – The Department of Labor and Employment-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOLE-ARMM) is targeting 2,520 students to benefit from the P 6.3-million summer job program or Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) of the region.
The SPES budget would cover salaries and other benefits of the student-employees.
DOLE-ARMM secretary Muslimin Jakilan said that the ARMM provinces of Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi would equally be alloted the number of students under the program.
“We will see to it that even the students residing in remote villages would be given equal chance to avail of the program.” he said.
He instructed DOLE-ARMM provincial offices to start accepting qualified high school, college or vocational students, out-of-school youths and other interested parties for the program.
Registration period is from Feb. 26 to March 25, 2014, with the program employment duration covering April 14 – May 16, 2014 or a total of 25 working days.
Each program beneficiary would receive a P250.00 daily wage as mandated by law. (PNA)
