Posted on February 26, 2014

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Feb. 26 (PNA) — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) regional office is now accepting applications for the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP) for the school year 2014-2015.

OWWA regional director Ma. Lourdes V. Reyes said that a qualifying exam administered by OWWA-3 determines eligibility for the scholarship wherein top 12 examinees for each province are selected.

“Dependents or beneficiaries who wish to apply for the scholarship should submit requirements to the regional welfare office on or before May 10,” she said.

The requirements include an accomplished application form; two copies 2×2 pictures (studio shot/white background); proof of relationship to OWWA member (birth certificate of applicant or birth certificate of both the single OFW and the applicant-dependent and certificate of no marriage duly certified by the Local Civil Registrar or NSO, if OFW is single, proof of OWWA membership; and form 137/High school report card.

She said the scholarship program offers financial assistance amounting to P20,000 per school year.

“Tuition fees shall be paid directly to the school while the remaining amount shall be released to the scholar upon submission of the grades for the semester,” she said.

The OWWA official, however, said that any amount exceeding P20,000 shall be paid by the scholar. (PNA)
