KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 16 (PNA/IRNA) — Iran’s Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammad Jalal Firouznia said on Saturday that Tehran’s relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are now growing.
Speaking to IRNA, he said recently the international community pays significant attention to ASEAN as some believe that all regional and international developments will be interrelated to this region in the future.
ASEAN member countries include Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
During the term in office of President Hassan Rouhani, Iran plans to further expand relations with ASEAN, Malaysia in particular, he said.
Malaysia is fully aware of Iran’s progress and is to take longer steps towards boarding mutual relations, he said.
Malaysian minister of agriculture has recently visited Iran and the country’s foreign minister is to pay an official visit to Tehran in the near future, said the Iranian ambassador.
The Malasyain parliament speaker is now in Tehran to attend the 9th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states,
