BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 12 (PNA) -– Injured passengers of the ill-fated GL Florida Bus are complaining about the slow assistance being delivered to them by the management of the bus company.
Most of the injured still in the Bontoc General Hospital claimed that the only assistance given to them since the accident was for the purchase of medicines for first aid.
For its part, the management of the bus company explained that their assistance is being delivered to the injured passengers but may not be fast enough because of processing procedures.
Nevertheless, the victims are assured of the assistance from the company.
Meanwhile, Edgar Rinon, the driver of the ill-fated bus is being guarded heavily while recuperating at the Bontoc General Hospital pending the filing of formal charges.
An injured passenger, Melchor Suwaken, said the driver forced the bus on a difficult turn along the tight road that resulted to the accident. The bus fell 120 meters down at Sitio Pagang, Talubin, Bontoc. Suwaken suffered a broken leg.
The Banaue-Bontoc Road was not designed for regular sized buses or trucks. In the past, the road is only traversed by light weight and four wheel drive vehicles.
Recently, after the connecting roads were concreted but not widened, bus companies extended their routes from Banaue, Ifugao to Bontoc, Mt Province. (PNA)
