MANILA, Feb. 6 (PNA) — The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) stopping the implementation of an ordinance of the local government of Quezon City mandating each household to pay a garbage collection fee each year.
According to SC Public Information Office (PIO) chief and spokesman, Atty. Theodore O. Te, the SC Third Division issued the TRO pertaining to the new ordinance on the system of garbage collection in Quezon City.
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista is implementing the new system of garbage collection fee based on the lot area of the house owner.
The Quezon City government aims to raise P54 million from garbage collection before the end of this year with each household mandated to pay a garbage collection fee of P100 to P600 depending on their lot area. (PNA)
