BACOLOD CITY, Feb. 3 (PNA) – Bacolod City lone district Rep. Evelio Leonardia has formed the Congressional Technical Working Group (TWG) that will tackle matters relating to measures on the safety of children aboard motorcycles and related issues filed in the House.
Leonardia, senior vice chair of the committee on transportation, has been appointed chairman of the TWG. He appointed Representatives Manuel Iway of Negros Oriental, Danilo Fernandez of Laguna, Pablo Acharon Jr. of South Cotabato, Oscar Garin of Iloilo, Terry Ridon of Kabataan party list, Wilfredo Caminero of Cebu, and Teodorico Haresco Jr., of Aklan.
Several congressmen have filed bills seeking the protection of children aboard motorcycles, among them House Bill 2185, 2445, 3360,3550, 3554 and 5345 that all seek to pass “An Act Providing Measures to Ensure the Safety of Children aboard Motorcycle and other Purposes.”
The bills were filed by Representatives Mitch Cajayon, Lani Mercado-Revilla, Christopher Co, Rodel Batocabe, Alfredo Garbin Jr., Romeo Acop, Ma.Theresa Bonoan-David, Roger Mercado, Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Al Francis DC Bichara, and Philip A. Pichay.
Also endorsed to Leonardia’s TWG was HB 2882, filed by former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her son, Camarines Rep. Diosdado Macapagal Arroyo that seek to ban unattended children in motor vehicles. (PNA)
