TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 9 (PNA) — Curfew is still being effected in Tacloban City and Guiuan town of Eastern Samar.
At the coordination meeting Monday at the Leyte Sports Academy (LSA) here, Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8) director, Chief Superintendent Henry Losañes, said that curfew hour starts at 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
The curfew was earlier enforced following an ordinance passed by the legislative bodies of the two local government units (LGUs) to stabilize the peace and order situation and ensure security in their respective areas.
Losañes said that, to date, they have not received official communication as to the lifting of the curfew.
The stabilization of peace and order and security was on the top priorities identified by interior and local government Secretary Manuel Roxas II during the first weeks of the emergency efforts.
Since last week, Losanes said they have not monitored any major incidents in areas affected by the typhoon.
During the meeting, he also informed that the PNP with its regular members and augmentation force from various regional headquarters remain in full force to ensure security.
PRO 8 lost six of its personnel and two are still missing after typhoon “Yolanda” devastated the region last November 8. The 15 personnel who suffered minor injuries have already reported for duty.
Currently, PRO 8 has 1,212 augmentation force. (PNA)
