TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 5 (PNA) — Some 400 workers are now benefitting from the cash/food-for work program at the Tacloban City hub of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Effective December 2, the repacking of relief goods are done in Ormoc, Leyte; Tacloban City; Catbalogan, Samar and Guiuan, Eastern Samar hubs.
The welfare department hires the services of the locals to do the repacking of relief goods. They are being paid in cash at P258 a day or they may opt for food packs in return for their service.
Repacking of goods is done 24-hours at 200 persons per shift. The day shift starts at 7:00 am until 4:00 pm while the night shift begins at 6:00 pm until 6:00 am the next day.
DSWD regional information officer Vina Aquino said that program is open to anyone provided they are of legal age.
Those who are interested to avail of the cash/food for work may register at the DSWD command center located at Apitong Road, this city, near Citi Hardware. (PNA)
