TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 3 (PNA) –More than three weeks after super typhoon “Yolanda” ravaged Eastern Visayas, Vice Governor Carlo P. Loreto said they are happy that the situation in Leyte is already “almost normal”.
Loreto clarified the return of normalcy in various local government units (LGUs) differs in phases.
He cited that days after “Yolanda”, drugstores and markets have started to operate in Baybay City. Three days after the typhoon, economic activity was already observed in Ormoc City with the opening of coffee shops, hotels, pharmacies and malls, among others.
Commerce is also back in other municipalities of the province, he stated.
Meantime, the provision of power along main streets of Palo and Tanauan towns going to the airport in Tacloban City also provided “glimmers of hope in the darkness.”
Regular electricity coming from the grid sourced from power producing plants in Cebu is also available from Southern Leyte going to Ormoc City and Mahaplag.
The restoration of telecommunication signals also made a great impact, he added.
A major indication that things are going back to normalcy is that people are already back to their old ways, he said.
In the past few days, there have been mass oathtakings of newly-elected barangay officials, he said, as he cited politics as one of the three big events that have great impact in the lives of Filipinos. The two others are religion and basketball. (PNA)
