MANILA, Nov. 29 (PNA) — The operation of courts in some areas in Panay island devastated by super typhoon “Yolanda” last November 8 is now normal.
This was based on the inspection made by Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez in the Halls of Justice in some parts of the Visayas region.
Marquez first visited Roxas City, in Capiz province where the damage in the Hall of Justice in the area was immediately repaired after the onslaught of the super typhoon.
According to Marquez, aside from some broken windows, the Hall of Justice in Capiz City was not severely damaged.
Marquez said that all the judges and court personnel in Capiz City are all accounted for, hence, the proceedings of the cases in the city have normalized.
Marquez also visited the Halls of Justice in the towns of Balasan, Estancia, Sara, Barotac Viejo, Barotac Nuevo and Zarraga, all in Iloilo province, wherein all the judges and employees of the judiciary are also accounted for.
He said that all the courts damaged by the typhoon in said areas are now being repaired, hence, the operation in the Halls of Justice will be back to normal the soonest possible time.
Marquez also inspected the Hall of Justice in Iloilo City which is currently being repaired after it was damaged by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the Central Visayas region last October 15.
He added that all the courts which temporarily used the De Paul College for the court proceedings will return to the Hall of Justice in Iloilo City in December. (PNA)
