City of San Fernando revives anti-drug task force

Posted on November 28, 2013

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov. 28 (PNA)– The city government here reactivated on Wednesday the “Task Force Omega” (TFO) aimed at ensuring a drug-free city.

Some 100 volunteers were convened by the city government during the re-launch of the anti-drug task force.

“The launching of this task group is part of my priority programs to ensure peace and order and promote healthy lifestyle,” city mayor Edwin Santiago said in his message during the Citizen Anti-Drug Abuse Volunteers (CADAV) attended by volunteers.

“Task Force Omega will put an end to illegal drug use in San Fernando,” Santiago said.

City councilor Angelica Hizon, who chairs the peace and order and public safety committee, expressed her support to the project which aims to put behind bars drug pushers and rehabilitate illegal drug users here.

Santiago also designated retired Major Willie Manaloto to head TF Omega in the implementation of the program through education, information, monitoring, seminars and training.

“As we aim to be a drug-free community, we will continuously monitor the reduction of drug abuse-related cases and come up with verified data on suspected illegal drug dealers,” Manaloto said.

November marks the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control month with the theme “Make your health your ‘new high’ in life, not drugs.”

Speakers during the seminar were Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional chiefs and division heads Joyce Lacson, Melita Jasmine Perera, Ryan Cazeñas and Police Inspector Cherry Tirasol. (PNA)
