Jannati: Iran not totally losing hope in talks with 6 powers

Posted on November 22, 2013

TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (PNA/IRMA) — Interim Friday prayers leader of Tehran in his 2nd sermon this week referred to Supreme Leader’s brief reference to having no hope in talks with 5+1G, and said: Of course we do not totally lose hope in those talks.

Addressing thousands of Tehrani worshipers at the central campus of Tehran University, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati added, “The background of our relations with the Americans, the Europeans, and particularly the British, show that they do not favor justice, and only fare about their own interests.”

He said that the West intends to gain concessions and give none, asking: “When they sit at the negotiation table with that mentality, how can one have any hope in (reaching an agreement with) them?”

Ayatollah Jannati said that the records of the past performance of the world powers show what they have done with this nation during the course of the (Islamic) revolution, adding: “These are enemies, but not only our enemies, they are the enemies of Islam.”

The secretary of the Guardians Council (GC) added: “They are the enemies of Islam and our main crime is being Muslims… so I think it is a remote possibility that they would come to terms with us and compromise the slightest bit.”

Ayatollah Jannati all the same expressed hope that the western powers would “a little bit come to their senses” and do less things that are to their boss and to the loss of the others. (PNA/IRNA)
