ILOILO CITY, Nov. 21 (PNA) -– This city’s lone district congressman had sounded the call for working together and starting rebuilding of lives and places with no finger pointing on who is to blame for the destruction brought by super typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas.
Rep. Jerry P. Treñas, considered as the leader of the Visayan block of congressmen, said he is working in the coordination of rehabilitation efforts especially on infrastructure in the Visayas severely damaged by “Yolanda”.
He said the Visayan lawmakers are working for the sourcing of funds and one of the concerns is the Cash for Work program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Treñas said another concerns is the return of power supply in the typhoon-ravaged areas by the National Grip Corporation of the Philippines and electric cooperatives. NGCP reported that more than 600 electric posts were toppled by the typhoon in Panay Island during the height of the typhoon last November 8.
Rehabilitation funds may come from the 2013 national budget or other sources of the government, Treñas added. (PNA)
