MANILA, Nov. 11 (PNA) — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday night has placed the partial and official number of casualties due to super typhoon “Yolanda” at 1,774.
Of these, 1,660 were from Region 8 alone with the remaining dead distributed over Regions 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7 9 and 13.
Search-and-rescue works are still ongoing and with this the number of recovered dead could still rise.
Region 8 includes Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Ormoc City, Baybay City, Maasin City, Calbayog City, Catbalogan City, Borongan City, and Tacloban City, areas hardest hit by “Yolanda” last Friday. (PNA)
