Carlo J trusts both GMA7 and ABS-CBN

Posted on October 18, 2008

PNS — IS Carlo Caparas satisfied with the way GMA7 adapted some of his best works on television as teleserye?

Is he not offended with the countless revisions like adding more characters in the story which were not contained in the original?

“I am very happy sa treatment na ginagawa ng GMA7 sa aking mga nobela. Napapanood kong lahat ito since everything has been taped. My working relationship with their creative team as well as their pool of writers is okay. Iginagalang nila ang aking mga obra and they will call me from time to time para ipaalam sa akin ang kanilang mga suggestions at gagawing pagbabago.

Dapat talagang magdagdag at habaan. At sa nakikita ko ay nakakatulong ito nang husto to make the story more exciting. Aabangan talaga ng mga televiewers ang mga susunod na kabanata,” says Carlo during the press launch of “Gagambino,” the much-talked about comics-turned -TV series today.

“Gagambino” is the superhero story of a young man named Bino (played by Dennis Trillo) and his adventures with his giant spider as they fight evil forces in a darker, crime-infested re-imagination of Manila .

Bino and his group of friends, all possessing insect-like superpowers like him, are pitted against Abresia, a terrorist mastermind and a very powerful woman who can command giant insects.

Does Carlo agree with the management’s choice of Dennis Trillo to play the title role?

“I trust GMA7 in their decisions especially when it comes to casting. Ang karakter ni Bino sa Gagambino ay iyong tipong madali siyang kaawaan dahil nga madalas siyang api-apihin . Sa aking palagay very qualified for the role si Dennis.”

The master komiks novelist also said the same thing about Ryan Agoncillo who is taking over the role which catapulted the late Ace Vergel into stardom in the Carlo Caparas classic, “Pieta” which ABS CBN is adapting for television.

“Malaking challenge ito para kay Ryan whom I believe is a top-drawer during festivals. Gaya nga ng nasabi ko, his character has been revised para umayon sa pangkasalukuyang henerasyon. And one thing, bagay na bagay silang mag-ina ni Cherie Gil.”
