BUTUAN CITY, (PNA) — The city, topping the number of dengue cases and fatalities in the region, has intensified its advocacy against the mosquito-borne disease by providing appropriate information and preventive measures right at the doorsteps of the city residents.
Headed by Virgilio Nery, the chair of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, teams from the City Health Office are doing house-to-house inspections of the residences in the city for possible mosquito breeding places, disseminating proper information, suggesting preventive measures and listening to the concerns of the residents in its anti-dengue advocacy known as the “Katok Dengue.”
Butuan City tops the number of suspected dengue cases in the Caraga region with 764 based based on the Department of Health (DOH) 42nd Morbidity Week Disease Surveillance Report (Oct.13-19).
The city also topped the number of fatalities at six out of the 21 listed regionwide from January 1 to October 19. The dengue deaths came from Brgys. Doongan, Tungao, Taligaman, Pangabugan, Pagatpatan and Libertad this city.
