TUGUEGARAO CITY, (PNA) — The province of Cagayan was officially declared under a calamity state on Monday, November 4, after the provincial board members were informed of the damage caused by Typhoon Vinta.
Infrastructure and agriculture losses reached P100 million in Cagayan.
With the declaration, the province’s towns and Tuguegarao City can use their five-percent calamity fund for repair of destroyed infrastructure and houses, Governor Alvaro Antonio said in a statement.
Antonio said they will also spend P38.5 million fund from the quick response fund to help those 30,038 affected families from 17 towns in 378 barangays.
The provincial board members have also been asking the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to donate confiscated wood for repair of damaged schools and government facilities.
