NLEX-southboud heavy, SLEX light; rest of transport terminals have normal passenger volumes

Posted on November 4, 2013

MANILA, (PNA) — Portions of the southbound direction of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Sunday experienced heavy traffic flow as vacationists trooped back to Metro Manila after spending “Undas” in the provinces.

Liezel Uy, of the Manila North Luzon Tollways Corp. traffic control center, said that as of 6 pm, the southbound lanes of NLEX in San Fernando, Pampanga had heavy vehicular flow due to a multiple collision at kilometer 62+500.

Uy said that once vehicles pass the area, it will be free moving but will experience slow moving traffic once they reach the viaduct between Pampanga and Bulacan. The slow moving traffic will extend all the way to Bocaue in Bulacan.

Uy attributed the slow moving traffic to vehicular volume.

At the South Luzon Expressway, Eugene Grecia, of the traffic control center, said that both directions of the highway experienced light traffic in both directions which he said was probably due to vacationist heading back to Manila on Saturday or some may go back early Monday morning.

At the Manila North Harbor, Jasper Atanedo, passenger terminal assistant, said the sea port experienced normal passenger flow. He said some 1,200 passengers arrived Sunday, while 960 left Manila.

“The number of passengers is our normal passenger flow,” Atanedo said.

It was the same for arriving domestic passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 as the Passenger Arrival Information Center noted an estimated 60 passenger arrivals for every flight that arrives the terminal.

The Quezon City Police District-Tourist Police Assistance Center in Cubao said it was also like a normal day of operations at Araneta Bus Terminal where buses arrive and depart without heavy passenger volume.
