CEBU CITY, (PNA) — Argao, Cebu Mayor Edsel Galeos has said the P70 million his town recently received from the Department of Health (DOH) for the construction of a district hospital in his town may revert to the DOH if not implemented this year.
Galeos said the DOH planned the project three years ago and it was only this year that it was approved.
The Municipal Government of Argao, some 66 kilometers southeast of Cebu City, has to bid out the project on or before December, otherwise, the money will revert to DOH.
Galeos is seeking the help of the Cebu provincial government in acquiring a lot for the construction of a new hospital.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said that since it is a district hospital, it is under the responsibility of the provincial government.
Davide expressed desire to grant the request.
Galeos plans to build the hospital on a one-hectare lot along the national highway in Barangay Bogo, which is four kilometers from the municipal proper.
