Namimitak ang bukid, sa init ng araw
Nasasabik sa ulan, hamog ang kaulayaw;
Wari’y nalimot ng langit,ulap ay tinatanaw
Dalanging inuusal; ang mapawi ang uhaw.

Nang pumatak ang ulan, umapaw ang tuwa
Ng bukid at mga isdang, sa linang naglipana;
Mas higit ang magsasakang sandigan ng bansa,
Ngiti ng kasiyahan, banaag sa kanyang mukha.

Maaga kung gumuhit, ang araro ni Mang Juan
Hila ni Malakas, pamatok niya’y pasan pasan;
Nang masuyod ang mga damo’t handa na ang linang,
Sa bukid kung taniman, may hatid din kasiyahan.

Sa lilim ng punong mangga, sa may lumang kareta,
Ang mga manananim, salo-salong nagmeryenda;
Sa gitna ng tuksuhan, kubling ngiti’y mapupuna,
Pagod man ang katawan, puso nama’y masasaya.

Dasal ng magsasaka’y, dininig sa kalangitan
Gintong butil ay sagana, hatid ng kabukiran;
Bayanihan ay tradisyon kung gabi ng giikan,
Biko’t ginataang mais, laging handa ni Inang.

( Ngunit dumami ang tao panahon ay nag-iba,
Naglahong parang bula ang palayang sinasaka;
Wala na si Mang Juan, Malakas at mga isda,
Tanging ulan ang naiwan, kabahagi ng gunita…)
