CANBERRA, (PNA/Xinhua) — The Australian Election Commission (AEC) confirmed on Saturday the final result of all 150 seats of House of Representatives in the 2013 election and most of the seats in the Senate, which means the new parliament is set to start this November.
On Friday, the AEC confirmed that all writs for House of Representatives elections have been returned for all states and territories following the formal declaration of the result in the electorate of Fairfax.
According to the latest result from the AEC, as of Saturday, all 150 House of Representatives seats have been declared, including 90 seats of the coalition, 55 seats of the Australian Labor Party, one seat of the Australian Greens, one seat of Katter ‘s Australian Party, one seat of Palmer United Party and two seats of Independent candidates.
The Senate seats of Western Australia (WA) have also been finalized by the AEC on Saturday afternoon, a few days after the AEC finished the recount.
All Senate seats have now been declared with the exception of WA, according to the AEC. The formal Declaration of the Poll for the 2013 election of Senators for WA will take place on Monday, Nov. 4, which means the recount of the Senate in WA will be formally finalized.
The latest result of WA showed that Greens candidate Scott Ludlam and Australian Sports Party candidate Wayne Dropulich have won federal Senate seats after the WA recount, while Labor and Palmer United Party candidates, Louise Pratt and Zhenya Wang, have missed out.
