LJUBLJANA, (PNA/Xinhua) — About 120 Slovenian soldiers began on Saturday taking part in a week-long NATO exercises, code-named “Steadfast Jazz 2013” in Poland and Lithuania, the Slovenian Press Agency reported.
The ongoing drill, with the participation of more than 6,000 personnel from all NATO member states and partner countries, including Finland, Sweden and Ukraine, is believed to be one of the largest NATO joint exercises since the end of the Cold War.
Slovenia declared independence from former Yugoslavia in 1991. It joined in NATO in March 2004, and participated in NATO Response Force the next year.
