BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has lauded President Benigno S. Aquino III for his speech Wednesday evening in defense of the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
Marañon described the President’s address as “very good and straight to the point.”
In his speech, Aquino scored administration critics for equating the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
The President said some quarters are trying to discredit his administration by claiming that the use of DAP is illegal thus, veering public’s attention away from the real issue which is the misuse of public funds.
Marañon added that the people of Negros Occidental support Aquino in his “daang matuwid” governance.
“We are behind you in your fight against graft and corruption,” the governor said in a message of support to Aquino.
The Negros Occidental governor also hailed the President’s warning that those who misused public funds will be prosecuted.
“It’s high time that we jail the corrupt officials and thieves in the government,” Marañon added.
