L1NGAYEN, Pangasinan, (PNA)–Sr. Supt. Marlou Chan, police provincial director, reported Saturday that observance of All Saints Day in Pangasinan was generally peaceful and orderly with no untoward incident recorded whatsoever.
Chan thanked the people of Pangasinan for the very peaceful atmosphere, adding that the police remain on red alert as the gun ban is still in effect as the election period is yet to end on Nov. 12.
This means, the police will still continue to conduct check points in a bid to further enforce the gun ban until Nov. 12, he said.
Chan said that some of the policemen and army personnel deployed as part of the augmentation force in Pangasinan during the barangay election are still around since the election period is not yet over.
In this year’s observance of All Saints Day, the police organized Oplan Kaluluwa 2013 in order to secure not only the local residents but tourists and visitors as well.
Some policemen were posted along the highways leading to the province to render assistance to motorists.
These law enforcers will stay put in their respective posts untill all the visitors and tourists who came to Pangasinan on All Saints’ Day have gone home.
Meanwhile, the alert in and around cemeteries is still on effect Saturday as many people are still visiting the tombs of their departed loved ones, which they have not done on Friday, Nov. 1.
