MANILA, (PNA) — Two unidentified men shot and killed a newly-elected barangay chairman while walking along the National Highway near Barangay Bagontapay, Mlang town, North Cotabato on Saturday afternoon.
Capt. Antonio Bulao, 602nd Infantry Brigade spokesperson, said the shooting took place around 3 p.m.
He identified the victim as Eduardo Panes, the newly-elected barangay chair of Libo-o.
Bulao said the victim was walking along the above-mentioned locality when gunned down by the motorcycle-riding gunmen with a .45 caliber pistol, killing the former instantly.
Investigators are still determining the motive but stressed that this could be politics.
