KIDAPAWAN CITY, (PNA) –In support for the implementation of Technical Cooperation Project (TCP) Phase V, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) turned over to the Department of Agriculture in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DA-ARMM) a Kubota mini-hand tractor and rotavator with plow disc, officials said Wednesday.
Dr. Vic Casimero, Philippine Rice Research Institute (IRRI) branch manager and Omar Abdulkadir, project assistant of TCP-V, representing JICA, turned over the equipment to ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman and DA-ARMM Sec. Makmod Mending Jr Wednesday.
TCP-V is a project funded by JICA in partnership with DA-ARMM, Integrated Agricultural Research Center, PhilRice , University of Southern Mindanao and Mindanao State University and LGU recipients.
The project primarily aimed at helping Muslim farmers become productive after their livelihood was affected by armed conflict and war in Mindanao.
It includes training for DA extension workers for rice-based farming system through farmers field school.
