ROXAS CITY, (PNA) — Mayor Angel Alan Celino here vowed to make this capital city of Capiz province drug-free by 2014, with support from Secretary Manuel Roxas II of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“I have the mandate from DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to make the city drug-free,” Celino said during a press conference Wednesday.
Now on his second term, the mayor said he will campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs through various means, including the conduct of random drug testing.
Roxas was in the city Monday to cast his vote during the barangay elections.
Celino said that Roxas lauded some projects accomplished by his administration, but the mayor admitted there were a few things that the DILG secretary said needs to be improved.
Meanwhile, the mayor said that 39 out of 47 village chiefs who won in Monday’s elections were identified supporters of his administration.
