MANILA, (PNA) — A pilot and his co-pilot luckily escaped death after the training aircraft they were riding crash landed on a lahar trail in Pampanga Wednesday morning.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director General Capt. John C. Andrews said the Cessna 152 flight training aircraft with registry number R-C8832 is intact after crash landing around 8:25 a.m.
Initial reports reaching Andrews said pilot in command Capt. Eliseo de Luna and First Officer Christopher Logro reported to the Subic tower that their aircraft is encountering low oil pressure at around 7:50 a.m.
Minutes later, De Luna informed the control tower that they will make a forced landing over the lahar trail.
The two were later assisted by residents in getting out of the aircraft.
Andrews said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
CAAP identified the owner-operator of the aircraft as Omni Aviation Corporation, a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and Aviation Training School located at the Clark Free port Zone in Pampanga.
