CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, (PNA) -– A police officer assigned at the Iligan City Police Office was arrested Monday as one of the principal gunmen in the slaying of a radio broadcaster here last August.
Ricardo Diaz, regional director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) here, said that two witnesses had positively identified Police Officer P.J. Capangpangan responsible in the shooting to death of radio blocktimer Fernando “Nanding” Solijon in Iligan City on August 29.
He said that Capangpangan and a companion identified as Edward Tucaran shot Solijon six times in various part of the body using a .45 caliber pistol.
Diaz said that an unidentified gunman also shot and killed Tucaran two days after the killing of broadcaster Solijon.
According to Diaz, Capangpangan and Tucaran were known gun-for-hire killer in Iligan City.
He said that Capangpangan has been placed under house arrest as the NBI continue to gather evidences that would corroborate with the allegations of other witnesses.
Solijon, a know hard-hitting radio commentator of an FM radio station in Iligan City was shot dead on his way home after attending a birthday party of a colleague on the night of August 29, Diaz said.
