ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA) -– The city government of Mandaluyong, business groups and civic groups are pouring in assistance in a bid to help the local government alleviate the plight of the Zamboangueños affected by last month’s standoff.
Initially, Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr. and his party has turned over Tuesday P100,000 worth of computers and accessories to the Tugbungan Elementary School which was recently affected by flash flood.
They arrived here Tuesday and paid a courtesy on Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar at City Hall.
“We were moved by what happened to Zamboanga City. We came here with private foundation, businessmen, the Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce, private people from Mandaluyong to pledge our commitment to help the Zamboanguenos,” Abalos said in an ambushed interview.
Abalos said they will finance the construction of a school building and they are just waiting for the local government to identify the location.
He said the Mandaluyong City government is also donating more or less P1 million to the local government.
Salazar expressed her gratitude to Abalos and party for the assistance they are giving to this city.
The visit of Abalos and his party to this city was facilitation by the Zamboanga Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce of Mandaluyong Mandaluyong City.
