CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PNA) -– The Calamba City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) announced Tuesday for the traffic management and road re-routing in view of the country’s Christian observance of “Undas 2013” (All Saints’ Day) and the long weekend starting Nov.1 until Sunday.
Calamba City Traffic Management Office head and officer-in-charge Andy B. Desepida convened his officers for the implementation of the city’s traffic management plan and temporary road re-routing.
The plan integrates the expected pedestrian and motorists convergence zones and choke-points in the city’s public and private cemeteries and in view of the surge and exodus of the holiday-goers, travellers, tourists and vacationists to the Calabarzon region.
The city traffic planners said they anticipated the bulk of people coming to and passing by Calamba as the strategic gateway through the South Luzon Expressway, Calabarzon STAR tollway, the San Pedro—Famy, Laguna to Infanta, Quezon Road link and the Daang Maharlika from the city through Southern Luzon route to the Bicol Region.
The CCTMO assured the riding public, travellers and motorists of safe and orderly road passage with the temporary road re-routing and traffic management effective 1 a.m. on November 1:
The Chipeco Avenue from the corner of Burgos Street extending beyond the Elepaño I 1st Street shall remain open to the public and motorists.
However, from the Chipeco Avenue to Elepaño I 1st Street up to the PNR site shall be on a One-Way-Traffic mode up to the right turn to Rizal Street.
According to the CCTMO, starting from the former WTA Terminal the One-Way Entry up to the PNR Site shall be observed up to the Elepaño Subdivision and Elepaño II 2nd Street fronting the Seventh Day Adventist School.
The PNR Site from Rizal Street will be temporarily closed to traffic and all types of vehicles.
The Kinsville subdivision road before the Mabini Street and Pabalan road entering the Chipeco Avenue will also be temporarily closed.
All types of vehicles are also prohibited to enter the cemetery starting from the San Miguel Hatchery in Lecheria where both the public and private cemeteries are located.
The city POSO also reminded kin, relatives and visitors of their dearly departed not to bring any liquor or alcoholic drinks or stage drinking (of liquor) session inside the cemetery.
City public order and safety officials also advised any person not to bring any gun or firearms and any pointed, sharp or bladed weapon inside the cemetery and its premises.
The POSO advised cemetery goers to observe the “dead spot” as a revered place for the departed and unnecessary noise such as blasting sounds from the radio, TV or any musical instrument will be strictly prohibited inside the cemetery.
