ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) will come up with a national policy to rationalize the accreditation of all radio and television broadcasters by 2016.
Atty. Wilhelm Soriano, a member of the KBP Standards Authority and vice president for external relations of UNTV, said that with the proliferation of political blocktimers especially during the election period, they are rushing to finalize the policy in a move to professionalize the broadcast industry.
Soriano said that an accreditation examination is being given to broadcast personnel and reporters before they can talk on the microphone.
However, KBP is allowing blocktimers without accreditation to talk on political issues as a form of livelihood of broadcasters.
He added that investigative journalism must be promoted by the practitioners so that unlicensed blocktimers may be regulated in promoting political agenda.
Soriano was one of the speakers in the media workshop on anti-trafficking held in Iloilo City recently.
