MANILA, (PNA) — At least two areas in Northern Luzon are under public storm warning signal no. 1 as tropical depression Vinta has slightly intensified its strength and changed its direction westward, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Joey Figuracion said public storm warning signal no. 1 (30-60 kph winds) was hoisted in Isabela and Aurora as tropical depression Vinta continued to move in the general direction towards the Isabela-Aurora Area.
He added that Vinta increased its strength from 45 kph Tuesday morning to 55 kph in the afternoon while its direction also changed from west northwest to westward at 26 kph.
Figuracion said that as of 4 p.m. tropical depression Vinta was at at 820 km east of Virac, Catanduanes (15.4°N, 132.8°E).
He also said Vinta was expected to make landfall in areas of Isabela-Aurora by Thursday morning and also Vinta expected to intensify since it is in the sea.
