ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA) -– The police are conducting a follow-up investigation to establish the identities of gunman in a gun attack that marred the eve of the barangay elections in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.
However, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca clarified that no one was either killed or injured in the incident.
Huesca said the incident took place at the residence of Joel Almasan, 45, a candidate for barangay councilman around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City.
Huesca said that Almasan and the members of the family were sleeping when the two gunmen riding tandem in a motorcycle arrived and opened fire.
“Luckily, no one was injured, however, the windshield and dash board of Mistubishi Estrada, colored silver with licensed plate ZLW-438 owned by Mr. Alamasan sustained bullet hole,” Huesca said.
He said the responding policemen have recovered two empty shells and a deformed metal slug of caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
He said investigation is going on to determine the suspects’ identities.
