TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, (PNA) -– The conduct of barangay elections in the province was relatively peaceful as no untoward election-related incidents have been reported so far.
Sr. Supt. Alfred Corpus, Tarlac provincial police director, said that although Tarlac has the highest number of threatened barangays all over Central Luzon, the election here can be considered as generally peaceful and orderly.
Lawyer Fernando Cot-om, provincial election supervisor, also said that despite reports on alleged vote buying and difficulty in finding the voter’s name in the list, the voting process ran smoothly and without major glitches.
Meanwhile, President Benigno Aquino III, together with sisters Pinky Aquino-Abellada and Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, cast their votes for barangay polls at Central Azucarera de Tarlac Elementary School here at around 11 a.m.
The Comelec said the Aquinos are among the 287 registered voters listed at precinct no. 175-A at the said school.
