DUMAGUETE CITY, (PNA) –- Many voters in Dumaguete City are complaining of not having voted yet in Monday’s barangay polls as they could not find their names at their assigned polling precincts and because of the absence of a master list from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Some of the voters have returned home feeling frustrated after spending a long time searching for their names which they say could not be found at the polling precinct where they voted in the May 13 mid-term elections.
Atty. Gildo Agoncillo, Election Officer III of Dumaguete City has asked the voters to proceed to his office so they can be assisted in finding their assigned voting precincts.
Also, the Comelec has sent some staff to polling centers where master lists were not available at the start of Monday’s polls at 7 a.m.
Some voters said they will no longer return in the afternoon to vote.
One particular precinct that was “missing” was 0110-B at the Dumaguete City High School in Barangay Calindagan.
Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Eddie Aba earlier assured that late comers could still be accommodated after closing time at the voting centers for as long as they are within the 30-meter radius of the polling precinct and their names listed down by Comelec-authorized representatives.
No voters’ assistance desks were also seen in many of the city’s polling centers.
Meanwhile, senior citizens and persons-with-disabilities have been given priority at the voting centers as Comelec has not designated a special polling place for them.
