BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) – Four candidates for village chiefs in this city are sure winners in Monday’s barangay elections as they are running unopposed, records of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here show.
Those without opponents are incumbents Rodolfo Salga of Barangay 29; Karina Pineda of Barangay 33; and Hernani Jalando-on of Barangay 37.
Another running unopposed is Leif Gregory Ledesma of Barangay 24, who is succeeding Lope Ledesma Jr.
Barangay 24 has the smallest voting population in this city, with only 306 registered voters while Barangay Sum-ag has the most number of registered voters, at 17,932.
Almost 1,750 candidates are running for 488 positions in the 61 villages here.
Of the number, 157 are running for barangay captain while 1,592, for barangay councilman.
