BAMBANG, NUEVA VIZCAYA, (PNA) — The on-going barangay elections in the 275 barangays here was generally peaceful with voters casting their votes early.
As early as 7 a.m., voters of various precincts have been spotted queuing in their respective precincts.
Election facilitators stationed near the polling precincts who instruct voters on their respective precincts helped a lot in the smooth flow of the elections.
“I voted early so that I will not be met by heavy influx of voters that may happen in the later part of the day,” said 46-year old Ronald Ortega of barangay Banggot.
Police Senior Superintendent Valfrie Tabian, police provincial director said the barangay elections might be completed soon because of the few number of candidates vying for barangay elective positions in several barangays.
“Generally, our barangay election has been successful with the cooperation of all concerned sectors from public to private sectors including the candidates,” Tabian said.
He said at least 449 policemen were deployed during the election period to cover 294 polling centers with 807 precincts within the 275 barangays of Nueva Vizcaya.
