PAKIL, Laguna (PNA) -– A barangay 20 kms from the town proper of Pakil, Laguna started counting the poll returns after Monday’s barangay election formally closed 3 p.m. with the convening of the local Board of Election Inspectors at the Pakil Elementary School here.
Supporters, poll watchers and kin of the barangay candidates gathered near the classroom where the counting was conducted.
Patience and excitement of the people milling around the polling precincts overtook the polling atmosphere with mostly relatives slugging it out for the village elective positions.
Under darkness as dusk seeped in, the people gather outside the room and waited for the proclamation of the winning village chief and seven councilors of the barangay.
Police Senior Inspector Jojo Sabellano, chief of the Pakil police assessed a generally peaceful barangay election in the town.
