BALANGA CITY, Bataan, (PNA) -– Except for some minor election-related problems, the Philippine National Police and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here on Monday declared the conduct of barangay elections as generally peaceful.
Lawyer Melanio Sibayan, city election officer, said that more than 100 voters came to the poll body complaining that they could not find their names in the list of voters they saw in elementary schools serving as polling precincts,
Sibayan said that they checked their master list and issued certificates that the complaining voters were indeed registered voters.
He said some unscrupulous persons apparently produced other lists to mislead the voters.
”Those are just few problems that we encountered in today’s barangay polls. But, we were enabled to immediately resolve the matter. Generally, we can say that the election in the province is peaceful and orderly,” he said.
