CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, (PNA) — A member of the Palanas Municipal Police Office was wounded when unidentified armed men ambushed group the group of policemen and Commission on Elections (Comelec) officers around 8:15 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Parina, Palanas, Masbate.
Senior Inspector Malu Calubaquid, Police Regional Office 5 spokesperson, identified the wounded policeman only as PO1 Bailon.
The group was then led by Senior Inspector Baltazar L. Valenzuela, PMPO officer-in-charge, and Comelec officer, lawyer Merlinda F. Alvarez.
In another development, a candidate for barangay captain in Barangay Cypress, Polanqui, Albay, was shot by a unidentified gunman inside his house around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
A police report identified the victim as Pio V. Occidental, 52, who was shot with an unknown firearm while sleeping in his residence in a remote area of the village.
Occidental sustained a gunshot wound in his shoulders and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
