ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — Two suspected drug pushers were arrested by narcotics agents in separate operations in Boracay Island over the weekend.
Arrested first was Ronnie Diamante, 49, a native of Sorsogon who now resides in Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island.
Diamante was apprehended after he handed a sachet of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in exchange of P1,000 marked money to a poseur-buyer.
Confiscated from his possession were two more plastic sachets of shabu and the marked money.
Also arrested was Alvin Gelito of Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the local court in the province of Aklan. He yielded six plastic sachets of shabu.
The two suspects were detained at the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) lock-up cell.
They will be charged for violating certain provisions of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The operations were conducted by combined forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Aklan Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch, Police Regional Office-6, and BTAC.
A week earlier, drug personality Jose Ma. Antonio Kilayko of Bacolod City was also arrested following an entrapment operation at a beach resort in Sitio Cagban, Barangay Manoc-Manoc
