16 illegal aliens nabbed in Bacolod City

Posted on October 25, 2013

BACOLOD CITY, (PNA)– The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday apprehended 16 illegal and overstaying aliens in this city and the province of Negros Occidental.

Atty. Faizal Hussin, special assistant to the commissioner and head of the Alien Mapping Task Force, said these undocumented foreign nationals will be deported.

Of the 16, 10 were Indian nationals, three were Koreans, and another three were Chinese.

This city is their first area of operation, Hussin said.

The operation was conducted by the BI after receiving information that several foreigners, especially students, are staying in the country without pertinent papers.

Hussin said their operation here will continue until Saturday.

He noted that members of the Task Force have been monitoring the Indian nationals who are into money lending. Recently, however, the Indians were no longer seen doing their business.

“They may have monitored our presence,” Hussin said, adding that, “If they have the documents as proof of their stay here, they should not fear.”

Meanwhile, Casimiro Madarang has been named alien control officer for Bacolod, replacing Mita Chuvy Arguelles as part of the agency’s nationwide revamp.

Madarang, who has been with the BI for 25 years, was previously immigration chief at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, Cebu alien control officer, and acting regional director of BI-Region 7.
