Special barangay election period in Zamboanga City to start Monday

Posted on October 25, 2013

ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA) -– The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Friday that the special barangay election period in this city will start on Monday, October 26, up to December 10, 2013.

Comelec Regional Director Wilfred Jay Balisado said on Friday the special barangay election in this city was scheduled to November 25, this year, based on the Comelec en banc Resolution No. 9805 promulgated on October 24, 2013.

The barangay election here is scheduled to be held on Monday, October 28, just like in other places.

However, the Comelec, through Resolution No. 9793 promulgated last October 8, has reset the holding of the elections due to last month’s standoff.

The standoff started when hundred of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels infiltrated this city last September 9.

The election period in this city will start on Monday, October 26, up to December 10 pursuant to Resolution No. 9805.

The last day to post the Posted Computerized Voters’ List for purposes of the elections of barangay officials is November 5.

The filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) will be from November 7 to 13 and the campaign period is from November 15 to 23.

The last day to file sworn statements of election contribution and expenditures is on December 26, 2013.

Balisado added that all is set for the holding of the barangay election on Monday, as scheduled, in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur.
