MANILA, (PNA) — The latest Pulse Asia survey showing the improved approval ratings of President Benigno S. Aquino III indicates the “unwavering confidence” of Filipinos in the Chief Executive, a Palace official said Wednesday.
A survey conducted by independent pollster Pulse Asia Ulat ng Bayan shows that the President’s performance approval rating climbed from 73 to 79, representing a 6-point increase, while his trust rating remains high at 76 percent.
“This is a reflection of the unwavering confidence that the Filipino people have in President Aquino and his reform agenda — confidence that has remained strong despite the attempts of those who oppose the President’s good governance and anti-corruption agenda to sow distrust and confusion,” said Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda in a statement.
With the survey results, Lacierda said those who are being held accountable for the misuse of government funds have “failed to confuse the public.”
Lacierda was referring to several individuals who have been employing what he called the “DOM” strategy (Denying the facts, Obscuring the truth, and Misinforming the public) to turn public outrage on the misuse of “pork barrel” funds away from themselves to the President.
“Instead, the Filipino people continue to support the difficult reforms that the President has spearheaded. They know that the President remains sincere in his work: in his desire to uphold the truth, to uproot corruption, and to ensure that no one is left behind,” he said.
