DAVAO CITY, (PNA) — Now on its fourth batch, the “Adopt-A-Child Program” initiated by Governor Arturo T. Uy as provincial nutrition council chair has been widened with a community-based approach.
Provincial administrator Virgilia Allones said their approach shines more since aside from the adopted 31 malnourished children in New Bataan, the whole community is being catered to as well.
Allones said there are add-on features to the offered involving community participation such as cooking demo, vitamin supplementation, conduct of responsible parenthood seminar, medical check-up, and trainings on vegetable production, fertilizer production, and the vermi-culture imparted by Vice Governor Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora.
“These services are all for free,” Allones said.
She said that the applied interventions manifest a more better result with the positive response and active participation of the community.
In the conducted Barangay Family Development Program Seminar in the first week of October 70 couples participated.
This attributes to the plan of facilitating a “Kasalan Ng Bayan” for the barangay recipients to be facilitated by the provincial government.
