MANILA, (PNA) — Typhoon “Urduja” has maintained its strength as it moves northwest of the Philippines, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 10 a.m. update Tuesday, the location of the typhoon was estimated at 1,130 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes packed with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.
It is forecast to move northwest at 13 kph.
PAGASA said that the typhoon is not expected to affect any part of the country.
Urduja is forecast to be at 940 km east northeast of Itbayat by Wednesday morning.
By Thursday morning, it is expected to be at 950 km northeast of Itbayat or 230 km east northeast of Okinawa, Japan.
The state weather agency said sea travel is risky over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon.
