MANILA, (PNA) — Typhoon Urduja is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the next 24 hours, the state weather forecaster said on Tuesday.
In a interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Samuel Duran said Urduja maintained its strength but was expected to be out in PAR by Wednesday headed towards Japan.
Duran said that as of 4 p.m. the eye of the typhoon was located at 1,125 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (23.0°N, 133.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph and gustiness of up to 195 kph.
It is forecast to move northwest at 13 kph.
Duran said that the typhoon is not expected to affect any part of the country.
However, he said typhoon Urduja would enhance the northeast monsoon affecting the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas.
“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” PAGASA said.
He added that due to northeast monsoon the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley will experience parlty cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
He noted that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
